Rostrus
Today visual effects for films are primarily created using computer technologies. Despite that, Rostrus was made as a real-life film set with an opportunity for 360 degree shooting. The team followed the traditional approach in order to avoid discordance between actors and digital environment. The model is 1:1000 scale and finely detailed, which allows to shoot from a distance of up to 2 centimeters to the surface.
Rostrus Film Set by Mark Melnikov was selected as an outstanding representation of communication design by the A' Design Awards. Rostrus Film Set was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2021. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is a highly prestigious international design prize that recognizes excellent design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
