Athletic
Athletic is a series of sports-themed illustrations created with digital painting software. Each image reduces a complex athletic movement to simple lines and shapes. The most representative pose of each sport was selected after a wide study of reference images. Custom brushes and textures were developed to recall the surface of traditional painting on paper. Each original artwork measures 1920 by 1920 pixels at 72 dpi. The series aims to show the beauty and the energy held within a single moment of motion.
Athletic illustration by Hao Li has been highlighted as an outstanding illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Athletic illustration earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2021. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that celebrates outstanding design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
