Crowd Gathering of Dots
Crowd Gathering of Dots is an art installation created for the lobby of a hotel in Tainan, Taiwan. The work covers a surface of 100 square meters. Handmade ceramic spheres are arranged across the wall to suggest the flow and spatial tension of a gathering crowd. Each sphere is finished with a glossy black glaze that reflects the appearance of every visitor. Because the spheres are shaped by hand, each one differs slightly. Bronze and gold feet hold the spheres in place, and light projection creates changing three dimensional shadows.
Crowd Gathering of Dots Installation Art by doT & associates was highlighted as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award. Crowd Gathering of Dots Installation Art won the Bronze A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design in 2022. The A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which rewards excellent design of sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, drawings, mixed media works, ceramics, art objects, craftworks and more.
